Bobbie Shannon has been a Licensed Professional Counselor for over 25 years. She is licensed in both North and South Carolina. She completed her undergraduate work at Gardner Webb University and her graduate degree at Webster University.

She began her career at Polk Mental Health working with youth at risk and added adults and families. She spent 9 years as the counselor at Steps to Hope; Polk County’s domestic violence shelter and worked exclusively with women’s issues, including but not limited to, domestic violence, sexual assault, codependency, and self esteem issues.

Her specialties include domestic violence and sexual abuse, trauma, depression, anxiety, and family work. She has been trained in the EAGALA model of equine assisted psychotherapy since 2009 and continues the equine work in her private practice in Tryon, NC. She has also been studying and working with the Nature’s View Equine Model of Natural Humanship with Bruce Anderson of Camden, SC since 2012.
